***Important Message from the

Winsted Youth Soccer Board***

Volunteering is a crucial part of what makes the Recreation Department and all our town sports successful. It is even more important now that the Recreation Director's position has been drastically cut. There are many dedicated people who support this, however, this number is starting to dwindle. We thank the many people who are already volunteering, however, there are always more needed, especially coaches. The kids wouldn't be able to learn and play if there isn't someone to step up to guide them. Anyone who is interested should call the Recreation Director or any of the WYSA board members.

Don't forget about Travel Soccer. Travel is not as intimidating as it sounds. Travel consists of 2 practices a week and 1 game on Saturday's. Half of the games are at home and the other half our in other towns. Away games are anywhere from 5 minutes to 40 minutes away. If transportation is a concern there are always other parents that can assist. Typically the team will meet and ride together, like a convoy. Most of the other parents have plenty of room and are more than happy to help any kids that need a ride. In addition to needing the kids to play we also greatly need coaches for these teams. If you are interested in coaching or your child is interested in playing Travel, please contact the Recreation Director or any of the WYSA board members.

PLAYING SOCCER IN ITALY

Jake Schoenberger of Winsted, who had made his start in the WYSA soccer program, had a wonderful opportunity this April. Jake's love of soccer led him to earn a spot on the USA Region 1 team!! During a Tournament in Virginia he was selected as one of three Connecticut players to join the USA team that played in an International Tournament in Italy from April 29th - May 1st!! It was a wonderful experience with memories to last a lifetime. For more details on this extraordinary event please click on the following link:

Fall Registrations will be held every Thursday in July. At the Green Building. 6:00-8:00pm

Registration forms for the Fall 2012 season will be updated soon.

WYSA is working on some exciting improvements that will be starting this upcoming Fall season. These new changes will give our children more soccer skills that they will build on each season and will also allow all of you parents to be more involved.
